Vegan Sloppy Joes (Gluten Free)
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 250 g firm pressed tofu
- 1 cup white onion diced
- 1 cup cooked lentils rinsed well
- 3/4 cup green bell pepper diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp vegetable stock powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp Vegan-Friendly Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 pack Dr. Schar Classic Gluten-Free Hamburger Buns (or GF buns of choice)
Instructions

Place oil in a large fry pan. Take pressed tofu and crumble it with your hands into small pieces into the pan. Turn temperature to medium heat and cook tofu for a 3 minutes stirring often.

Add onion, lentils, green pepper, and garlic. Brown for another 4 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Add tomato sauce, brown sugar, vegetable stock powder, pepper, Vegan-Friendly Worcestershire Sauce, cumin, and paprika, stirring in between each one.

Keep mixture on the heat, mixing often, until it begins to thicken. When it feels like it is about to stick to the pan, it is ready. Quickly remove from heat. Lightly toast gluten free buns and load them up with your Sloppy Joe mixture. Enjoy!
